Glaucoma diagnosis
  • Primary open angle glaucoma is a silent disease that leads if not early diagnosed and treated properly may lead to permanent significant visual loss.
  • Secondary to high intraocular pressure and the resultant lack of nutrition, the optic nerve will start to degenerate and the fibres of the nerve are lost gradually.
  • If we lose the optic nerve tissue, we will not be able to do anything to restore vision.
  • Diagnosis and control depends on:
    • Clinical examination
    • Regular intra ocular pressure measurement
    • Documenting and change in the morphology of the optic nerve by OCT and Visual Field machines.
